1. Data controller

Norchit is developed and maintained by illuwa ("we", "us").

2. Summary

Norchit is a local system-monitoring utility. It does not collect, transmit, sell, share, or retain any personal data. There is no user account, no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash-reporting service, and no telemetry.

This policy exists for App Store transparency and to document the single optional outbound network request the app can make on the user's behalf.

3. What Norchit does NOT collect

Norchit does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

• Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or other contact details.
• User IDs, device IDs, advertising identifiers, or any tracking identifiers.
• Location data.
• Contacts, calendars, photos, messages, or files.
• Browsing or search history.
• Usage analytics, crash reports, or diagnostic logs (beyond what the operating system itself collects with the user's own Apple privacy settings).
• Performance metrics leaving the device. CPU, memory, network, disk, and battery readings are computed locally and rendered on-screen only.

No data is transmitted to us. We operate no server that receives data from the app.

4. The only outbound network call

Norchit makes exactly one category of outbound network request, and only when the user explicitly opens the Network detail panel and its Addresses section:

• Endpoints:
  https://api.ipify.org (for public IPv4)
  https://api6.ipify.org (for public IPv6)
• Purpose: to display the user's own public IP address(es) to the user, as a convenience feature comparable to visiting whatismyip.com manually.
• Payload sent: none beyond the standard HTTPS request headers required by the OS networking stack (no custom headers, no body, no cookies, no identifiers).
• Response use: the returned IP string is rendered transiently in the Network detail panel and held only in memory for the duration of that view. It is not logged, written to disk, sent to any other service, or associated with any identifier by Norchit.
• Opt-out: simply do not open the Network detail panel. No request is made otherwise.

This is the only outbound network traffic originating from the app's own logic. The operating system may independently make network requests (App Store receipt validation, macOS system services) that are outside Norchit's control and outside the scope of this policy.

5. Third-party services

The only third-party network endpoint Norchit contacts is ipify (https://api.ipify.org, https://api6.ipify.org). ipify is a free public IP-lookup service. Like any web server, ipify may log the incoming request (which by design includes the requester's public IP, since that is what the service returns). Norchit has no relationship with ipify and does not send ipify any additional information. Please consult ipify's own documentation and policy at https://www.ipify.org/ for their data-handling practices.

Norchit includes no advertising, analytics, attribution, crash-reporting, or cloud-sync SDKs.

6. Children's privacy

Norchit is a general-audience utility. It does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in the user's jurisdiction), because it does not collect data at all.

7. Data retention

There is no server-side data to retain. Locally, Norchit stores only:

• User preferences (selected display mode, segment visibility, refresh rate, palette choice, launch-at-login flag) in the standard macOS UserDefaults store, scoped to the app's sandbox.

These preferences never leave the device.

8. User rights

Because Norchit collects no personal data, there is no personal data to access, correct, export, or delete under GDPR, CCPA, or similar regulations. If you wish to remove all Norchit state from your device:

1. Quit Norchit.
2. Drag Norchit.app to the Trash.
3. (Optional) Remove preferences by running in Terminal:
   defaults delete com.unbundio.norchit

9. Security

All Norchit network requests use HTTPS (TLS). Norchit runs under the macOS App Sandbox and holds only the entitlements strictly required for its monitoring features.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect new features or legal requirements. Material changes will be accompanied by a new Effective date at the top of this document and noted in the app's release notes.
